Language issues for high functioning 8 year old

Hi List,

My son is 8 years old and in a typical 2nd grade class. He has made a

few good friends but I feel that his language issues will cause him to

be fun of if we don't see more improvements. Basically he has some

retrieval issues and will often restart sentences to get his thoughts

together. He also will add an " ah " sound to the end of certain words

like " mommy-ah " at the end of a sentence. However, he doesn't do this

on every sentence. I'm not sure what that's about. He academically is

very good. We kept him back a year so he is old for the grade but not

that much since he was born at the end of the year anyway. Lastly, his

prosody is off and he either sounds very young or just not right. Any

advice would be great.

Thanks,
