Guest guest
Bodypure = adhesive vinegar foot pads I saw the infomercial too and didn't want to buy them then -but here's more on them. http://www.boingboing.net/2008/01/23/infomercial-for-foot.html And here's info from Science podcast Skeptoid Skeptoid is a weekly show taking an incisive, critical look at pop culture phenomena and pseudoscientific beliefs. Hosted and produced by Dunning, Skeptoid takes on the toughest challenges to the realm of reason and rationality. From the sublime to the startling, no topic is sacred. Skeptoid #83: The Detoxification Myth The world is full of hucksters trying to sell us products to " detoxify " our bodies, but nobody ever really hints at what these supposed " toxins " might be. Whether it's adhesive vinegar foot pads*, electric foot baths, or pills that rubberize our stools into giant snakes, there's always some brand of snake oil offering to do what our livers and kidneys already do for free. http://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/18665/skeptoid-critical-analysis-of-pop-ph\ enomena/recent * (about body pure vinegar foot pads) " FREE TOXIN TESTING ANALYSIS WHEN YOU PURCHASE 3 BOXES!* We have the all-new Body Pure + Detox Foot Pads: Higher Content of Active Ingredients: BodyPure + contains 3 times more bamboo vinegar. " http://www.toolsforwellness.com/51081.html I know a few of you need to look elsewhere because therapy and fish oil (and vitamin E) alone doesn't work -but if you check history here -you may be wasting time and money. Harder and more expensive, and (God forbid in some cases dangerous) roads don't always mean the best route to get to the mainstream. Guess it seemed too easy? (kind of like those just add water cake mixes that didn't sell well and found they had to switch to add eggs and oil too so that the box cake mix wasn't too easy?) This group has morphed so much that many of the old timers who have much to say don't post anymore (sniff) -but to new parents -please know that you don't have to always 'start' with the complicated road of biomedical for experts and you may never like us have to go there. Fish oil and vitamin E is biomedical 101 for anyone -and worked for almost all. 90 something percent? Tanner appears as normal as any other 11 year old -is mainstreamed in school as a good student and has tons of friends. His speech is not as eloquent or extensive as it could be -but for 11 year old boys those aren't traits that most notice as a deficit. He no longer requires OT and ST every week but continues to improve with school, reading, playing, and fish oil and vitamin E every day. In Tanner's words: " Mommy remember that man who used to rub my head " (cranial sacral therapy I told him) " Yes that. That didn't work but it felt really good " (well Tanner who knows what helped the most -back then we thought we noticed subtle results with it but yes it was never anything dramatic like the fish oils) " Well you know what I think helps me the most now is vitamin E " So thank God to for raising awareness about the importance of that! Vitamin E made Tanner's speech much smoother -and helped him with sensory issues. We buy lots of our food organic -again LOVE Whole Foods -but do not have our children on any special diet -and they are both doing amazing. And again -check the archives -doesn't appear like it in the past few months -but they are the majority. =====
Guest guest
I was not considering this for my kids. Too dangerous if it even works in the first place. Plus the vinegar thing, given the whole fermentation thing, sounds contraindicated. > > Bodypure = adhesive vinegar foot pads > > I saw the infomercial too and didn't want to buy them then -but > here's more on them. > > http://www.boingboing.net/2008/01/23/infomercial-for-foot.html > > And here's info from Science podcast Skeptoid > Skeptoid is a weekly show taking an incisive, critical look at pop > culture phenomena and pseudoscientific beliefs.
