Guest guest
Hello Families Network! As part of our efforts to get the state to address New Jersey's growing waiting list for community residential services, we have developed a " white paper " which explains the issue in greater detail and outlines the information that we currently have related to the issue as well as recommendations which include, among other things, the 10% Solution. I am attaching the white paper to this email for those of you who would like to read it. We will be officially launching this paper at our event on March 6th. We are expecting the day in Trenton on March 6th to run from approximately 10:30-3:30 but most of the details are still up in the air. Since these emails go to out to such a large group of people, I will spare you all the logistical details and only send the specific information about the day to those who have let me know they would like to participate. If you think you might like to attend, but didn't RSVP just send me a quick email and I will make sure you get all the information as it becomes available. I will be sure to let the rest of you know how it goes. On a separate note, I want to acknowledge the impact that your participation in the Family Advocacy Program has had on the issues that affect your lives. As we begin our legislative advocacy for the 213th legislature, I thought you would like to see all that we were able to accomplish during the 212th legislature though a summary which you can find at http://www.arcnj.org/highlights_212_leg.pdf . Each legislature is constituted for a term of two years called a legislative session. This means that in order for a bill to become law it must go through the entire legislative process during this two year period. January marked the end of the 212th legislature, and the beginning of the 213th legislature. By working together and making your voices heard, we had some amazing successes over the past two years. I look forward to all that we will be able to accomplish in the 213th legislative session.
