Well he is too young to explain the importance of the brace but you really must

find a way to keep them on, even if it means making him wear them during the day

too, to get enough hours in. Maybe duct tape at night, seriously. Something

has to be done or he'll aim for a relaps.

Help! He won't keep his brace on!

Ian (22mos) will not keep his shoes (DBB) on. Thank goodness he's

just in them at night now. He's always been very easy to put to bed.

At 8pm every night it was bath, story, brace on and bed. Then he

started taking the brace off as soon as we put him to bed. We then

waited for him to fall asleep and put his brace on. Now he's waking

in the night and taking it off. He can untie and unbuckle the shoes.

Any suggestions? Every morning I find his DBB tossed on the floor

next to his crib. I've tried double knots and those little barrel

looking things that snap over the laces. He still gets them off.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Duct tape! No joke, I know there are parents who have done it. Some

other tricks to try, lace the shoes upside down, i.e. bows will be at

the toes; makes it just a little trickier to reach, this has helped

some people. Also, have you tried triple knots? Different laces that

are not so slick and easily untied?

HTH a little!

Ha! Great minds think alike, I told her the same thing.

My mom did actually use duct tape on my shoes, it was the only thing

that worked.

Kori,

Each time you suggest this it just cracks me up! In my family the saying is

always " Duct tape holds the world together " and you know, there are so many

applicable things it can do that folks never think about. Of course we have had

family members who worked for Manco so duct tape exploration was part of life.

LOL LOL

We put in Spiderman laces for our son's shoes, and now he doesn't

untie them at all. The laces that came with the shoes were really

slippery, but the ones we got work perfectly!

Have you tried a sleep sack? There is a pattern in the files section

that we just made for my son. He's a year younger than your's, but

the sleep sack is 2T and was extremely easy to make.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I had to LOL at the duct tape

comment. I knew that was coming. Actually my husband suggested it

the other night and I had to convince him to put it away. I'm going

to try and make a sleep sack, buy new laces and lace them up

backwards. Something is bound to work.

If you don't find them there, let me know. I can always ship them.

Postage wouldn't be too bad since they are light and would fit in an

envelope.
