Guest guest
I have read that many have concerns about returning to work and gas problems (many RNs). Well, I am a teacher. There is no way I could let any gas go in my classroom because my it would be so disruptive in my high school LD/BD classroom that I would never get them back on track. I did not go back to work until I was 4 months post op (summer vacation). I go three hour stretches in the classroom with no need (or absolute need) to relieve myself. Now I started really working with my body while I was home. At about 6 weeks post op I told myself " absolutely no gas passing except in the bathroom " . Now I have the ability to produce gas quite often, but I never have uncontrolled gas. I think working with learning not to let it out was the key. Now sometimes I have what I call a " bubbly " colon. The gas keeps coming down but I don't let it escape and it " bubbles " back away again. During the whole school year I think I only ever left my classroom once to go to the washroom during my classes (another teacher stepped in). So I think training your body to resist any urgency is the key.
