What a fun opportunity! And hopefully they'll put in that plug for the group.

Others may very well have contacted them, but I talked to someone from Medstar a

few weeks ago, for something related to an entirely different project, and did a

small pitch for a story on Dr Ponseti and clubfoot treatment while I was at it.

Glad to hear they followed up!

Their website is:

http://www.medstar.com

Every week, they provide a couple of short health/medicine stories for broadcast

on local news programs. Your local news channel would subscribe to their

service and get to use whatever they produce. My impression is that they are

widely subscribed to throughout the country. I'm not sure what kind of

lead-time there is between shooting footage for a story and airing the stories.

pregnant again :) )

I got a call from Joyce (Dr. Ponseti's secretary for those who don't

know) saying a group was coming to do a story on Dr. Ponseti and would I

like to be a part of it. Of course, I didn't have to think twice about

it ... I jumped right on it. Well, today was our day for fame (or maybe

it's infamy)

After Jakob got home from school, we headed to the playground outside

the Iowa City Public Library. There, they taped Jakob climbing and

running around just being a normal (?) little boy. Then, they brought

us inside (it's rather cool outside today - not to mention all the

noise) for a quick interview. T., thanks for your wonderful PDF

file with the group info. I took that with me today and the interviewer

took it to hopefully use in the story. I also got to put in a plug for

the group during my interview (in regards to a question about becoming

an " advocate " for the Ponseti Method. All in all, I think it was a cool

experience.

They also had an interview with Dr. Ponseti and they taped a baby being

casted. I didn't get to see those parts of the story, so the end result

will be interesting for me as well.

For those interested, the group is called Medstar and they are based in

town, PA. I'm not sure what markets their stories are shown, but I

will try to find that out for anyone who wants to see it. I'm also

supposed to get a VHS copy of it after it's done.

That's great! I'm so glad these news groups are really starting to

pick this up. Did you get a chance to tape the segment they did on

that local Fox station from the footage they taped at the symposium?

I talked to that reporter Eadie Fawcett, but she told me they were not

able to use the interview they did with me in their piece, they used

another parent who's child had been treated directly by Dr. Ponseti,

but she said they were hopefully going to use the segment with us when

Dr. Dobbs talked about his brace. She is supposed to send me a copy

of the show, but I didn't know when it was going to be aired or if it

had been already.

thanks,

Through many protests by Jakob (who wanted cartoons instead), I did try

to watch the local Fox morning show for a week to see the show featuring

Dr. Ponseti. I admit I forgot to tune in that Monday, but I didn't

catch it the other 4 days that week. I should try to email Eadie

Fawcett and see if there is a tape we could get a copy of.

Per the email I received from her on 10/14 it appeared that the piece

was not finalized yet, so perhaps it has not been aired yet. Maybe if

you email her that will remind her she is supposed to also send me a copy.

That IS exciting! I'm so glad you and Jakob were able to do it!

Please keep us informed on when you see the story and where it might

appear! Can't wait to see it!
