Angel Flights Update

Hi Michele, so is he going to do both the way there

and the way home? I've been following your story, but

haven't had a chance to respond. I'm sorry you have

had such a hard time with Angel Flights. We have used

them 3-4 times. We have had to have flights cancel

because of weather or problems with planes.

We drove from Ohio to Indiana and met a pilot

there once because we didn't have anyone from Findlay

(Where we live) to .

I know it's frustrating when it seems that no one

cares or no one is listening, but keep in mind that

Angel Flights relies on the kindness and schedule of

pilots. Even though they have had a month to plan if

no pilots are available on the dates you need to

travel they are stuck. Anytime they have had to

cancel they have been very appologetic. One thing

that may help is if your schedule is flexible let

Angel Flights know that because a pilot may not be

able to travel on one day but may a day earlier or a

day later. The pilots pay for their gas and

maintaince on the plane and as we all know that is not

cheap these days so pilots may not be flying as often.

Also some of them incorporate flights with business

they have so they may not always be available.

So you are from NJ? I guess you are going to be

traveling back and forth. We traveled from Ohio to

Iowa once a week for 4 weeks. Then we went back at 3

months of age, six months old, and once or twice a

year since.

Here's a sidenote about our experience, interesting

story. Actually we had an appointment on September 10,

2001. They had to cancel the angel flight on Sept 9,

2001 because of weather. We had to fly American

Airlines and that flight kept getting delayed. Ours

was the only flight out of Toledo that night. We

almost missed the connecting flight in Chicago. I had

a two week old baby, we ran through the airport. I

couldn't run with the baby and as swollen as I was.

Tony ran ahead and I finally got one of those guys in

the carts to take me and Alaya to the gate. The

flight had already pulled away from the gates. We

begged to get on. We explained that it was a medical

necessity to get to Iowa City. Finally they pulled

the plane back and let us on. They announced that

they were waiting on a human liver to be boarded to go

to Iowa City for Transplant, That is the only reason

we got on. If we had missed that flight we would have

had to cancel the appointment on the 10th and would

have been flying on Sept 11 on American Airlines. We

would have gotten stranded or rerouted somewhere. We

know that God was watching over us and protected us.

I know it's overwhelming right now, but we will be

praying that everything will work out. I know you

want to get there as soon as possible but a week won't

really make a difference in the long term scheme of

things. I hope you are able to relax and know that

you are in good hands.

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for the support. He has offered to bring us home from Iowa,

Iowa to NJ, we still do not have anyone to bring us there yet. I

think my biggest frustration with them last week was they were not

apologietic at all. They seemed so cold. Which didn't help in a hard

time. I may have just caught them during busy times and a bad day.

Oh Michele I hope this works out!! That would be awesome not to have

to land & take off 3 times, just once!!
