Guest guest
Hi Marci, I saw your posting and thought it might be good to relay our experience. We had a daughter, is, born 3/19/05 with bcf. We are american but were living in London, UK at the time. We found out about her bcf at the 20 week ultrasound and not surprisingly, we were very upset. We researched on the web and were determined to find a Ponsetti qualified doctor and get is into treatment right after birth. She was born 5 weeks early and we were very, very fortunate to have gotten one of only 2 Ponsetti recommended doctors in the UK, Dr. Alison Hume. IT WAS COMPLETELY WORTH IT. We did 5 weeks of casting (really only needed 3 or 4 as she was so pliable being premature that the casting worked quickly but her feet were too small to be put in the smallest size markel shoe). She is now almost 5 months, has been in the Dennis Brown Bar 3 months, 23 hours a day and is about to move to 20 hours (4 hours off). We've followed the Ponsetti method with Ponsetti only recommend doctors and it works. We've just moved back to the bay area of California and were obviously very worried about switching doctors but we got another Ponsetti recommend doctor only 1/2 hr away from where we are living, Dr. Colburn. He examined is feet and also did an x-ray. His analysis said she was completely on track and to continue exactly as we have been (we could also see by what he pointed out in the x-ray that her feet are on track). He made a slight adjustment to her db bar as she had grown but otherwise, full speed ahead. Ponsetti only for talipes, it's the only way to go.
