Guest guest
Has he been diagnosed autistic? He is a little young for that diagnosis as well. (I think). Especially since you said he is very social! My son was nonverbal at 3yrs old as well. I took him to a developmental pediatrician who had experience with Apraxia. You should also read the book the " The Late Talker " by Dr. Marilyn Agin and our resident advocate
Guest guest
I too have found doctors and therapist relunctant to give a diagnosis. My son is now 3 and has been through doctors and therapist and although most would give a diagnosis of apraxia for insurance purposes, no one felt confident enought to call it that. My little one is making a little progress but we feel we have been stalled out for quite sometime. He has difficult with many sounds and substitues other sounds. He can usually master a sound if he works long and hard on it but then will forget it quickly and we are back to square one. He has difficulty putting phrases together. One thing that drs. told me is that they questioned the apraxia because he had no other oral or mouth related difficulties. We also have experienced quirky behavior including sensory issues, attachment behavior, scattered thoughts, etc. Autism has been mentioned but most professionals rule it out after seeing how social he is. He also has developed imaginary play. My question would be, what type of supplements and how much worked for you ? > > > Has he been diagnosed autistic?
