Guest guest
I don't post often here---mostly I am lurker ;-)---but I have a few questions about the extra bed/cot/couch that is in the same room as the patient and used by a relative or friend that has come along to Spain. I am curious if it is a a bed/cot or couch and if there is a shower in the room for the patient and or friend/relative to use. Also was your friend/relative comfortable there or would they have prefered a local hotel. I understand that I am coming in the off season--in later Oct---if I can get a date at that time with Dr.B...and that it isn't as busy so maybe getting a hotel room after we arrive would be easier than booking one in the next month or two. Well anyway....thanks for any info you can provide...I have learned soooooo much from this group so far....:-) Take care... in WI

Guest guest
Hey Jean, Thanks for the info---it's a long way to fly and I want them to have fun and a good time and be comfortable, in between the times they aren't worrying about me and the surgery. ;-) Thanks again, in WI

Guest guest
....and that it isn't as busy so maybe getting a hotel room after we arrive would be easier than booking one in the next month or two. Just to let you know...I had no trouble booking hotels 5 different nights for my trip between July 22 and Aug 5th. From all the information the great post ops have given me and researching the internet, I found out just how big the towns were in that area...LOL I had an image of these little towns. Alicante is over 300,000, Alcoy is over 65,000 just to give you an idea. We're staying for 4 nights at the Melia Alicante which is over 500 rooms. Its only one of many hotels. Don't worry about it...you'll find a place to stay no matter when you go in the next few months!! ~~* AJ *~~ BMI 59 Surgery date 7/24/01 going self pay - Dr Baltasar Spain Check out the Bellingham Support for WLS WWW.lookin2bthin.homestead.com

Guest guest
Hi , The extra " bed " is actually a small couch type of thing. My friend said it was very comfortable. The nurses gave her pillows, sheets and a blanket and she was fine. There is a shower in the bathroom that was fine for her to use. Post surgery, I just sat on the edge of the shower and she washed my hair for me periodically since I had to do the stand up bath while I was there. She even shaved my legs for me once! That's a true friend! It was nice having her in the room with me to help out. The clinic is very casual, we were able to come and go as we pleased. We often went out to the internet cafe to email friends and boyfriends, we took lots of walks, etc. She also went out on her own to explore the town. Plus, it's free for your friend to stay there! Spend that extra money on souveniers!!
