Guest guest
Hi, I'm just trying to get answers to some last minute questions. This is for Dr. Gagner post-ops. What if any bowel prep did you have to do? Did you have drains? If so, for how long? Do you get a binder for lap surgery? If not, could you get one if you requested it? I had a binder after open gall bladder surgery and it was a life saver. Thanks, Pat

Guest guest
Hi Pat, I didn't have to do any bowel prep at all. I was told just to not eat after midnight and try to eat light during the day. I was surprised at this, and also surprised to wake up without any drains. I know that some people do get them, I guess the Dr. G doesn't really know until he gets in there. I had no binder. I am not sure if they are available, sorry. Anyway, good luck. I will be sending good thoughts on your big day! Take care. Guest guest
My experience was that I had no bowel prep before surgery. I believe I could not eat or drink after 6 PM the night before surgery. I recommend that you do not have some huge " last super " that day. Keep it light. I had 2 drains. The one stayed in about 3.5 days and the other on was removed the day I was released. It depends on how they are draining as to how long they stay in. I did not have a binder and I did not see a need for it with the Lap surgery.
