Hi,

My son currently sees Dr. Dobbs at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

However we have applied at St. Louis Shriners. I was just wanting to

hear from anybody who currently sees Dr. Dobbs at Shriners. Will we

still be able to recieve the new brace? Also, is the wait time usually

bad at Shriners?

Thank you

We see Dr. Dobbs at Childrens because it was quite difficult to get in

to see him at Shriners. Now, that being said, if you are applying to

Shriners because of real financial need I would definitely recommend

going to see him there. You should talk to his assistant there, her

name is a, 872-8342 ext. 273, she will be able to help get you

in better than just a regular scheduling person.

As for the brace, I believe they are still using a slightly different

version of the articulating bar there, but I am not sure. Someone

else will probably jump in here and let you know. If you have

questions about the different braces available just ask Dr. Dobbs the

next time you see him or email at, mattdobbs@... He can

tell you what brace he thinks will work the best for your son.

laura...

my daughter sees dr dobb's at children's also.. he

told me that we could get a brace RX through shriners

for free but it was not the same brace that he

designed for children's.. mostly due to the high cost

i believe.. he said he like the brace he uses at

children's much better so i went that route.. but it

would be best to talk to him yourself and he may even

be able to show you the brace he uses at shriners and

let you decide.. hth..

We are usually at Shriner's about an average of three hours. That is

to see Dr. Dobbs, brace shop, and photography or x-ray. We went to

Shriner's because we live in KY so we don't have to deal with the

insurance due to Dr. Dobbs wouldn't be in network and all that. We

have always been in the old DBB (the Markells with the red bar).
