Guest guest
Thank you all for your great advice- What a warm, wonderful and supportive group this is! I live in St. Louis, so Dr. Dobbs is the Ponsetti doctor I have found here. I am trying to learn all I can about clubfoot before we travel, which should be sometime in the next few weeks. I tried the link for older children who have gone through the Ponsetti method, but it came back with an error page. Are there any books on clubfoot anyone can reccomend? I would especially like to get a better understanding of the foot angles both in the baby's foot and those used for correction. Thanks again for all your responses- I trruly appreciate your help! Guest guest
Angie, Dr. Dobbs is one of the best in the US! You are blessed to be in his backyard. He has a lot of experience with treating older babies. You could probably email him directly with questions. Someone on this site can give you his email address. Good luck! Guest guest
Angie, Sorry, I typed that URL wrong. http://www.global-help.org/publications/cf-english.pdf What luck that you are in St Louis! You simply cannot go wrong with Dr Dobbs. He is one of the top Ponseti doctors in the US and has considerable experience treating these " older " children. In fact, some of his patients who did not begin Ponseti treatment until they were around a year old are members of this group. Hopefully they will chime in here. I'm pretty sure Dr Dobbs would be happy to meet with you to discuss treatment options, or even do it via email or over the phone. Please keep us posted! This must be such an exciting time for your family. Guest guest
Angie, Great! Dr. Dobbs is one of the best! That is who my son sees. Here is the link to the University of Iowa (where Dr. Ponseti is) website with a lot of info about clubfoot and lots of links to other pages. http://www.vh.org/pediatric/patient/orthopaedics/clubfeet/index.html Also, if you are up for some more scientific reading you may want to try this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed This link will take you to PubMed which is a searchable index of tons of medical and scientific articles. You can search by author (for expample, put in " Dobbs MB " and it will pull up all the articles that Dr. Dobbs has written. You will have to wade through them at that point to see just the ones regarding clubfoot, but he has quite a few. You can do the same by searching for keywords. Some of the articles will give you only an abstract but others you can download the whole article. If you see any that you would like to read but are unable to get the whole article let me know -- I work at Washington University so I have access to most of the journals through the University -- and I can send you the PDF file. This goes for anyone else too, if you all ever want any journal articles that you as an individual might not have access to, I will do my best to get you a copy, just send your requests my way. Guest guest
Angie, I have to chime in and say how great Dr. Dobbs is. My son has been seeing him since he was 2 weeks old and he will be 4 in August. I couldn't ask for a better doctor. Good luck in your treatment and travels.
