Is it common for the doctor to take you off that medication after surgery ? I think I've read that some folks have been told to stop by their surgeons. Just being Curious here !! Guest guest Posted November 27, 2005 Report Share Posted November 27, 2005 Gordy I know 2 people who had WLS and were able to come off the cholesterol medicine, because once they started losing their cholesterol got in check. It's different for everyone, I was told I would be able to come off the reflux medicine, but not yet at 7 months post op. I have come off many medicines and inhalers(for asthma), off the cpap machine. So every one is different there's a very very good chance you might. When I lost the eighty pounds over the last year my cholesterol went way down and my PFP was considering cuttimg my dose in half but when I started regaining that plan went out the window, Thats why I was wondering what to expect post op. I had it on 9/28/05. About the medicines.....my surgeon refers me back to my family doctor, the one you put me on the meds, to decide when I can come off of them.
