PROMPT Workshop in Florida

Hello, I'm a mom of a wonderful little 6 1/2 year old in West Palm

Beach, FL. I rarely post due to severe time constraints but I do pop

in from time to time to see what people are sharing.

Now it's my turn. I am honored to be working with a local hospital to

once again bring the " Introduction to PROMPT: Technique Workshop " to

south Florida.

PROMPT is a wonderful tool for a therapist to have in his/her bag to

utilize with children. PROMPT is a research based method of treating

speech disorders, specifically apraxia.

While parents are not able to participate in this workshop we can

highly suggest that our SLPs attend. I've heard wonderful reports from

therapists who took the class and started using the method. It is

definitely worth the time and expense.

PROMPT is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American

Speech-Hearing Assn. (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities

in Speech Language Pathology. This program is offered for 1.8 CEU's.

PROMPT (PROMPTs for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) is

based on a client centered philosophy which embodies neuromotor

principles. The system was created by Deborah Hayden in 1976 and

formally organized in 1980. Since that time PROMPT has been

researched with both adult and child populations and has found to be

efficacious in the treatment of motor-speech disorders. Prompt is a

non-profit organization for the study, education, research and

treatment of speech production disorders. Total cost for the workshop

is $650.00
