The first time this happened to me, I suffered for a few weeks, then went to a doctor who didn't know much, and have lost some sight in my right eye (I wasn't diagnosed at the time). The doc kept telling me it was a viral infection. I have since found a fabulous eye doc, and she told me, at the first sign of pain to come in. It took him about 4 months to figure out that it maybe wasn't viral. To make a long story short, it was 6 months of extreme pain. With me, usually the first sign is a red line in the inside of the eye, that hurts when the my eye moves. It usually becomes excruciating within 24 hrs for me. As soon as I see the line, I am off to the doctor. I also get aches in the joints, and flu like symptoms. Hope this helps le
