Guest guest
Liz, I am no expert, but I have hypothyroidism. (My hair falls out all the time, but perhaps it is all the hair dye!) I am told Iodine / Salt has something to do with that, although I cannot provide facts at this time. I am told people in the North, especially the Great Lakes region have thyroid issues. ( I am origionally from that area.) Just my brief knowledge of this. Colleen [ ] I am wondering if iodine is our missing link...Janice, Vicky, , anyone? Take a look at this study: http://www.fluoride <http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/brain/idd.html> alert.org/health/brain/idd.html Mind you my kids do not suffer from cretenism but here is the deal: in this study the fluoride in the water is the exact concentration present in my town water per tthe latest water report. The stuff I gave my kids up until May allegedly had 3 times that amount. Thyroid stuff at the time of my daughter's initial hair loss was ruled out but I think it remains a future concern. Our plan was to test periodically for her, me and because of the high fluorine concentration of that water and the remaining high conncentration in what we shower in. Thing is, I wonder if we should not address iodine. Is there a test? Is it part of minerals testing? I have yet to address any sort of minerals stuff and need to since my new water has nothing in it. Anyone know how you know or test for iodine? Also, Janice, I put your name up because you have mentioned in the past Mark craving shellfish, etc. Lastly, I have had reactions to shellfish and we always assumed that I had an iodine allergy. Hmm...
Guest guest
Daughter's was definitely the fluoride and failed to come in in certain patches and we have peekaboo body hair. Her case is mild though compared to the group we deal with. She never went bald. My hair comes and goes. I have a thick head of it (pun intended) and it is less coarse with change of diet. Like so many other things none of us test positive for anything. Do you see why I had to try dietary stuff. Everyone was sick and the tests showed nothing. I cried when one doc backed me up. Cried when another one agreed. > > Liz, > > I am no expert, but I have hypothyroidism. (My hair falls out all the time, > but perhaps it is all the hair dye!) Guest guest
Hair dye...are you low in B6? This is my thing: a lot of us moms have dental stuff, autoimmune stuff, etc. that may be related to our kids deal. I knew I had stuff that never came up on the tests because it was a peekaboo thing so whenever the test came I showed up fine (I usually waited til I felt well enough to get the test). That is why malabsorption in me and in my kids made sense to chase. My belief is that my kids need to get well and so do I so we all have the most time to enjoy each other. Please check this out Colleen. I have gotten nearly the same labs as my kids and encouraged the same for hubby. I did not have these babies to leave them or be sick for them to take care of. B vitamins are wierd. I did not come back high in B12 but I have always had a ridiculously high pain tolerance. Plus the tests looked at the B12 in my blood, not that which was stuck in my likely fatty liver from all that milk I took in over the years. B6 is related to hair pigment. I was greying a bit (I have red hair...high in copper anyone?) and it simply stopped after dietary change. Convenient. I am not saying anything wild like you will get your hair color back. I am just saying take care of yourself so Charlie has his mommy in tip top shape. > > Liz, > > I am no expert, but I have hypothyroidism. Guest guest
Thanks for the encouragement. I am dedicated to getting my self looking better. Everyone tells me how tired I look. I am going to my endocrinologist to get everything checked. Then going to take it to Charlie's DAN! for alternative advice. I may just also do a saliva thing and have it sent to Lenandjoe.com. Overkill perhaps, but isnt everthing we have to do to find the piece of the puzzle. Just purchased two air filters from Oreck today. A tower and a tabletop. Put the tabletop in Charlie's room. Threw out the Christmas Tree and hopefully some of this sensory stuff that has returned will go away. Speech is rockin, though. By the way, currently reading the book you suggested. Brain that changes itself. I am a slow reader. But so far so good! I feel like is coming around. 2008 will be his year, I bet!
