Guest guest
here I slowly started loosing my voice, it was raspy and hoarse for almost 2 weeks, for like another 3weeks my voices was nothing but a whisper. My neck was tender to the touch, very very painful to swallow. Drinking orange juice burned or eating anything with spices. My vocal cords now barely have any elasticity. They don't open wide enough when i talk and breath. This is one reason why i have the Trach still. My vocal cords have a lot of scar tissue around them, and it is very narrow in my subglottic area. Until this area widens or the scar tissue disappears i will more than likely have to always have my trach. Between this one to two month, what i call a trial period, where my Family doctor had no idea what was wrong with me and didn't send me to a throat specialist at my request to find out what was going on with my neck. I think half if not all of the damage i have now occured during this time when i first started getting sick. I am glad that time has passed and i am in good hands now with doctors who care about what they do. I have not met you all but i am here to help in any way i can. My take care help for bev hi all bev has ask me to ask if you can help her ?? those of you that have had trouble with throat flares, what were the first sign of it she is having swelling and sourness and her voice is a bit horse could you email me before tuesday 17th as she goes to the hospital on the 17th to see the rp doc for the 1st time and would like to take it with her with all the other info that you all have given her please can you help thanks pam/bev ps i think that she,s a bit worried that she might be loosing her voice [but hubby says that it would be a good thing then she can,t nagg him anymore] keep happy all of you lots of love pam/bev DISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY. Guest guest
Pam, I really can't help Bev too much. My voice is really hoarse at times and have tender cartilage in my throat. They have looked at my vocal cords and they are fine. The CT scan didn't show anything in my trachea. They say it might be acid reflux and that is irratating my throat. I'm taking Prevacid but it still is there. Who knows..? Sometimes I choke on liquids, not food. Yes...I think Rich wouldn't mind too much if I lost my voice for awhile. LOL Have you and Bev been shopping lately?? or are you still ironing??? LOL I sure am glad that you are part of this group. You do soooo much for Bev... Would love to meet you both. Give Bev a hug for me (and one for you too) hugs
