RE Sensory Learning Center

Hi, I live in Boulder and I have heard many mixed reviews about the Sensory

Learning Center. My OT said she saw some children respond extremely well and

some didn't really have a noticable response. I am planning on taking my son

there this summer.

I also wanted to let you know that you & your family are welcome to stay with

us while in Boulder, we have a guest apartment (probably enough room for 4

people). That could make your trip more affordable.

Another thing that worked for us is we drove from Boulder to Disney World in

Florida (crazy!!) and my son watched his portable DVD player. Well, after 4 days

in the car sleeping and watching videos, ALL of his sensory issues were GONE!! I

was worried about how he would respond to Disney but without any sensory issues

he really had a great time. He went on all of the rides and in the crowded

places without any 'melt downs'. This was a completely different child than the

one I left Colorado with. My husband joked that our little guy was just happy to

be out of the car!! But I knew that some how that trip helped to 'organize' his

nervous system, which is what they do at the Sensory Center! After we drove

home, his sensory issues did return but never as severe as before that trip.

I've actually been wanting to repeat that trip again to see what happens?!

Thank you for the invitation to stay in the guest house. I will certainly

take you up on it if we do the program.

I'm very interested in your cross country drive to Disney World.....Are you

saying that the long trip helped your son?? I'm curious because I'm considering

driving from California to Virginia.....and I know it sounds absoulutely

insane......but the reasons " why " are very loooong!!!!! I have been concerned

about it's affect on my son. Do you know why the drive seemed particularly

helpful??
