Guest guest
Becky, The Metametrix Pediatric Ion Profile is the 'cadellac' of tests and it is the one that requires 13 vials of blood and a urine sample as well. An EMLA patch is definately required!!! A three year old could sit on Mommies lap and......look away! We were a little panicy to say the least but that test was worth every vial for the depth of information on Mark that we got in return. It showed us so much. Now, my environmental doctor uses a combonation of these tests that you have to pay for and tests that are 'governement' paid for. BUT we are in Canada and so I don't know how others have experienced this for you want all of the results to end up at your DAN's office. Surely they must be able to guide you on this? I we did the Metametrix test first and then from there did all of the other testing (which was all govt paid exept the heavy metals test). We did CBC, TSH (Thyroid), Ts1, Ts2, Autoimmune testing, IGE, Iron, B12 serum, D serum and hemogobin. I believe that has a list of 'regular' labs that you should have done (with the pediatrician) in the links section under labs for apraxia. Check that out. Janice [sPAM][ ] Need to know all the bloodwork info Hello all- We've talked so much about all these tests and such-- but I'm just a beginner when it comes to the whole biomed and the supplements etc I saw that there is a DAN Dr that is somewhat nearby, and I will try to arrange a visit with them-- but BEFORE I do this, I want to be sure that I go through my normal Pediatrician to get *ALL* of the possible blood tests that we may need for the DAN Dr. I have to go through the insurance for this-- or the cost will be too prohibitive-- so I wanted to prepare enough time to be able to do this since I know it takes a while sometimes for the results and to get into the DAN Dr Soooo-- this is what I need to know from everyone-- I need the FULL list of the blood test and profile names of what tests I want them to run. Also-- I know that someone mentioned that one of the tests needed 13 vials??? Is that true? I'm not sure how my 3 1/2 yr old will EVER tolerate blood being taken, but 13 vials on top of it?? Help-- any thoughts or suggestions on this one???? I know that people posts links to the archives-- but to give fair warning-- my archives have NEVER worked, so that's useless for me, unfortunately, because I know there's TONS of information lurking in those precious archives <sigh> Thanks in advance-- Becky **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
It depends upon what the doc is looking for- yeast/bacteria/fungal issues/parasites in gut are all done via urine and poop. There is always a box in the form to check for insurance coverage. There is also a test called Organic Oats - it is also a urine test (24hr collection) which shows creatine levels and various metabolic things. As far as blood goes - we never had 13 vials drawn - but we are dealing with young children. Beware of the EMLA cream in a very young child. EMLA is a numbing cream that you rub on the site where either an injection will be given, or blood will be drawn. It can cause the blood vessels to be harder to find and draw from. There is a medical explanation but I don't remember what it was. We got poked double due to this! Our Dan doctor always worked with our pediatrician - he would send her the tests he wanted via fax, and she would write the orders for the draw. I was upfront with our pediatrician about what we were doing with the DAN and she was willing to work with us and him. She also wrote the script for the B12 injections. The only time she didn't agree was when we asked for a script for Diflucan due to horrible yeast/fungal issues. She didn't feel comfortable writing that script for a small child. Insurance has always paid. We've never had Autism or PDD as the diagnosis code - it has always been under something else GI related. This was no lie as we were having major GI issues at that time. Good luck, Stephanee > > Becky, > > The Metametrix Pediatric Ion Profile is the 'cadellac' of tests and it is the one that requires 13 vials of blood and a urine sample as well.
