Guest guest
That is sign hypotonia - low muscle tone. Elliott has low truncal tone. He is strong as an ox, too, but aparently low tone doesn't really have anything to do with strength. But it can and does affect breath suppport which affects speech. > > Is that something seen in these kids? My son, stron as he is, has > rounded and rather weak shoulders. Guest guest
Thanks! With a long winter ahead I'll add this to the indoor therapy list! > > > > > > Is that something seen in these kids? Guest guest
Competitive swimming. Get him into a team. Its a great way to make friends, too. Then when he is a bit older, Jr High or so, try to find a youth rowing program. When boys are involved in either of these two sports when the growth spurt of puberty hits, you will find them shooting through shirt sizes like you would not believe. Both are great general conditioning and cardiovascular workouts, too. -jimk Liz wrote: > > Is that something seen in these kids? My son, stron as he is, has > rounded and rather weak shoulders. Guest guest
We had problems with swimming. I really wanted Mark to do it because it was a great sport but he could never really get beyond a certain level when he was a kid because he couldn't kick with a straight leg. He always bent it at the knees when he kicks. When he swims, he tends to be a bit of a dolphen and spends a lot of time swimming under water. Does anybody else notice that their child does this, kick with a bended knee and not 'get' how to keep it straight? If you ever resolved it, I would sure love to know what you did. It would be great to get back into swimming classes but Mark is having 'none of it' since he got quite frustrated with his lack of progression. Perhaps now that he is a few years older, he can learn the technique. I shall try with him at the pool tomorrow..... when we go to Mexico for vacation!.... YEAH!!! Guest guest
Janice, I have not tested it but I am pretty sure milk or gluten is behind that. I used to do amateur triathlon and could never do the swim. I was actually beaten out by a one-armed swimmer because of this very issue. I took a swim class with Terry Loughlin and was filmed so I know I do this. I think it was the bone thing in my right hip that resolved with milk loss (I think it was c and not G) so it may simply take time. Liz > > > > Is that something seen in these kids? Guest guest
I have but not since the celiac and milk allergy discovery. So much is easier now lets hope swimming is part of this. Once summer hits (we are in NJ) I will try your tips. Thanks much! > > > > > > > > Is that something seen in these kids? My son, stron as he is, > > has > > > > rounded and rather weak shoulders.
