Guest guest
I saw my rheumy here in Portland Friday and we discussed my future treatment because he doesn't like how long I've been on Prednisone. He wants to give me metho starting out three times and week and going up to six times a week---and I nearly fainted! I have a pretty mild case of RP and recently just went up to 10 mg prednisone/day, and am now coming back down. I have never heard of anyone taking metho so frequently. Anyone have any ideas on this? I may try the Dapsone again but on a lower dose with frequent blood checks this time! Please everyone remember what a strong role STRESS has to play in this disease, and I am sure everyone feels stressed just as much as I do over the recent tragedies. I have had to reduce my news watching because I really think that has not helped my recent flaring. PS: Burning ears is flaring no matter what color you see! Call your Dr. Hi Dagny, I agree with about the doctor most likely meaning three tablets per week, working up to six tablets per week. I started on three and worked up to 8 per week. Call your doctor for confirmation. Sorry you have been having so much trouble, Dagny! That's the pits. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. If you are ever down this way again, give me a call. I'd love to see you again. Take care, Sharon ===== __________________________________________________

I have a pretty mild case of RP and recently just went Hi: I have only heard of Methotrexate being taken once a week. When I was having trouble with the nausea I asked my doctor if I could take smaller amounts more often and I was told that I needed to stay on the weekly only schedule because of the way it reacts in the system. This may be something new, but I have not ever heard of it. If you have concerns who might want to ask your doctor to contact Dr. Trentham and to get his opinion concerning the medication schedule. Dr Trentham is really good about consulting with doctors who are managing RP patients. There are many ways to "do" things and just because your doctor is doing something different doesn't mean that it is wrong. I would get a second opinion if I was you because Methotrexate does have a lot of sever side effects. This is my two cents, and I don't what I am talking about.
