Guest guest
To anyone who is on Enbrel and wouldn't mind answering some questions: (1) How long have you been on Enbrel? (2) Have you noticed an improvement, and if so, how long did it take to notice? (3) What other drugs do you take for RP? (4) Are you having any side effects? (5) Have you been able to get off prednisone, or other drugs, since you have been on Enbrel? I have just recently started on Enbrel and was wondering what others have to say about it. Thanks lots! Sharon I. I have be on Enbril for one and one half years. 2. I started noticing a difference in about a month. Aches in joints in less that 2 weeks 3. I take Enbril , 2 injections 25 mg per week Methotrexate 15 mg per week (orally, I took it by injections for over a year) Medrol 8 to 16 mg per day. I have had to increase a few times Inhalers, I use oxygen one and off, and also use a C-pap machine and breathing treatments when needed. 4. Side effects I have had are recurring Shingles, I do not heal well and have had problems with gum disease and UTI infections. I have to avoid sick people and did not take the Flu Injections. This was my choice as they did not know what affects it would have as you have to avoid immunizations 5. I have been able to reduce the prednisone significantly but have had to on occasion raise it again. Relapses have been much less sever and of much shorter duration. Guest guest
Hi, my name is Ute, I don't post very often due to a very busy work schedule. I'm on Enbrel since Oct. 99. I noticed improvement after a month. However I still had to be on Prednisone until January 2001. Since last January I only take Enbrel, Antibiotics 3 times a week, Flovent inhaler, Calcium, Fish Oil, and Vitamins. I had one flare in April and took Predisone for about 3 weeks. Since than I'm doing OK. I hope the Enbrel will also get you off Prednisone. Good luck. Sharon > Dear Sharon, I have been on Enbrel for 2 years - during that time I have also been on Methotrexate and numerous other meds. I now have my Prednisone down to 18mg and going down 1 mg every 4 weeks. So by Christmas 2002 I should be off!!!!!!! I have not had any side effects from the Enbrel. My hubby gives me the injections as I have an aversion to inflicting pain to myself. The methotrexate is the culprit as far as side effects - I get the injection just before bedtime on Sunday evenings. By 4 am I have a headache and that lasts until about 4 pm on Monday. Sometimes I get nausea too but not too often. I do not work on Monday as I never know how I am going to feel. If I feel good its a bonus and I get housework done or whatever. Before Enbrel I was having one flare after another and had been up to 80 mg of Pred for periods of time to get into remission and nothing was working. Every time I got the pred below 40 mg, I would flare. Since Enbrel I have been coming down on the pred and only 2 flares in the 2 years - so I am counting my blessings. Good Luck - let us know how you are doing!!!!! Barbara from SD > > DISCLAIMER!! > WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY. It sounds as Enbrel is helping you quite a bit. Hearing others stories is very helpful to me for some reason. It gives me hope that maybe this is the thing that will work for me. Take care, and I wish you luck getting down even lower on your prednisone. Thanks, Sharon ===== __________________________________________________
