Guest guest
, Wow... that is so cool that you are also looking into moving there. We should talk more. Have you visited Asheville? We have not been there, but have researched it pretty well on the internet. It is very much like the area we are in now. We are in the Adirondacks. Does your child have apraxia? What age? My son is seven! If you want, I can send you some data on what I have found so far. Logan has apraxia, and Olivia is neuro typical. maybe we will meet one day if we both move to NC Jule ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
I would love it if you could pass on any info you have collected! We were there in August. My husband had been down last Spring looking into different areas. I absolutely loved it! The thing that scares me about moving is wondering what kind of services are available. We are in a great district right now for services and I hate to lose that. My son with apraxia just turned three but we have older kids (6,12,16) as well as two other three year olds. So we will have to get together if we both end up there! When are you looking into making the move? I would like to do it over the Summer. If we could hold out for the following Summer, that would be great but I don't know if that is doable. Asheville has a lot to offer. Tons of stuff to do there and in the surrounding areas. I loved the Biltmore Mansion and can't wait to try my wine I got there! We may be heading back down around Christmas or when the kids have Spring Break. We are in NJ so it isn't too bad a drive. The other area we like in NC is Cary. I would move to either in a heartbeat! You can just email me the info you can share at klbushey@... I really appreciate it and will see what info I have in all my crochures and junk I collected on the trip! -------------- Original message -------------- From: DJvirtual@... , Wow... that is so cool that you are also looking into moving there. Guest guest
I am also from NC and am wondering if anyone in the area has found a good support group for kids with apraxia/speech delays. I would love to get together with other parents to share and learn more. I am in the Durham area. My daughter is 2.5 and has apraxia. Thanks! Do you mind sharing what part of Jersey you are from? I'm in the Northern part. It's interesting that you like Cary, NC also, because that is where my brother-in-law resided for approx. 10 yrs before moving to Raleigh, where he is now (with his wife and 2 kids) I LOVE North Carolina and like yourself, would move there in a HEARTBEAT!!! But alas, with my husband having his business and clientele locally, we won't be moving down there anytime soon. Guest guest
There is a Apraxia Support group in the Charlotte area that I hear is really good. Hope that helps. Guest guest
It's very interesting that this is coming up. My husband and I are planning to move to the area. In fact, I'm flying in next weekend to look at properties. I was very concerned at first about relocating.....to a more rural environment, but called some therapy groups, and feel a bit more at ease. There are Speech companies/agencies (whatever they're called) that work with children with apraxia. I just made random calls and found them. Furthermore, Wake Forest is not far away from the area, and they're the pioneers on PROMPT (I think). Anyway, there are many excellent universities in the North Carolina area.....Also, if you have an active IEP, you have to continue receiving those types of services regardless of whether you move, etc..... I hope this helps @...: durhamregional@...: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 18:02:16 -0700Subject: Re: [ ] anybody from North Carolina mountains? Need Apraxia...
