Guest guest
the first " mainstream " preschool we put my son in at 2 yrs was too much for him and they sent him home after 40 minutes of non stop crying and vomiting. they have a 12 : 1 ratio of kids to teacher so they said to wait because they didn't have the staff to sit and calm him down. i guess that's understandable but what i've learned is that maybe a mainstream preschool isn't the best bet for him right now because of the ratio, his speech delay, sensory problems, attachment issues. they also didn't let me stay with him at all. not even for a day. he is 28 months and has serious attachment to me still. 2 words and about 50 signs which not everybody understands. not potty trained yet. does anyone know a good preschool for my kind of boy in this area? the reason i want to try is that i see him copy other kids' speech so well. he never copies adult speech like that. he also is very eager to try new things that he sees other kids do. does anyone know if a special needs preschool would be a help or a hindrance for an otherwise " normally " developing boy? they have a ratio of 3 or 4: 1. thanks!
