Guest guest
Hey Janice, when you get back, send us a little report on travelling in Mexico with your kids! We have been considering a trip to mexico with the kids, but are a little unsure about taking them out of the country at such early ages, so we bailed out to Hawaii where everything is familiar. Let us know where you went, how the kids dealt with it, and if you ran into any particular problems. Until then, have a great time, and take lots of pictures!! -jimk Janice wrote: > > We are off to Mexico tomorrow bright and early... for some fun in the > sun for a week before Christmas so any emails that you may direct to > me will not get answered until we get back. > > If I don't get a chance to say it..... Guest guest
The first time we went to Mexico we went to Club Med at Ixtapa. The rooms were marginal but the resort was fabulous. Mark was 6 at the time and they took such good care of him. They have a super kids program. Mark flew on the trapeze, participated in circus stage performances, sailed, swam, made friends, played tug-a-war, did tye-dye at the beach and basicly had a blast. The food was fabulous and it was a great time for all of us. Then I made a mistake..... I took him to a restaurant after swimming with the dolphins in town and he caught a parasite. It took months and months to get rid of it. From that day forward I learned my Mexico lesson.... never eat off of the resort! We have gone somewhere every year in the past five years. Both of my kids DO have their hep A shots and though I was tenative about having this done, I think you need to if you are consistently going to be traveling to Mexico or anywhere in South America. We went to Manzinillo, Cancun, Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and this year we went to a little resort called Club Marival in Neuvo Vallarta. It was FABULOUS! I really recommend this resort. The food was tasty and the resort was small enough to not lose the kids yet give them enough freedom to spread their wings. Mark literally spent all of his time riding the surf (big enough to have fun but small enough to be safe) on a boogie board which is provided by the resort. We got a one bedroom ocean front suite which was within steps to the pool, poolside bar and the beach. WONDERFUL! These rooms were HUGE with 2 bathrooms, a bedroom with 2 double beds (hard as a rock though) and a living room and a large round kitchen table next to a small fridge (stocked with water, beer, etc) and an enormous belcony overlooking the ocean. Because we went the week before Christmas, the price was right. For 3 of us (Mark is now considered 'adult' price), we spent $3,500 for a week. Remember we were traveling from Canada so the cost is probably more for us. All of the meals and the drinks are included. I am careful to ensure that Mark drinks bottled water but let's face it, we cheat like crazy on our diet when we do these trips.... however it was not too difficult to keep him 'relatively' casien free. As Mark now 'feels' it when he has casien, it makes things a lot easier for us. I brought a large bag of epsom salts and popped him into a quick epsom salts bath each evening to be on the safe side. I brought enzymes with me everywhere and made sure that he had some with all meals. After a few days on the beach, everything about Mark is lighter and brighter. He speaks fluidly and has an alertness to him that sparkles and shines. He still gets a little of the 3:00 pm energy lull but I have learned to bring a few nuts along to eradicate this. It works. We got home last night at about 10:00 pm and he is already off to the ski hill full of energy and happiness. His shoulders are a little more muscular with all of the boogie boarding he did and he looks really healthy right now. I have to admit though, we did a DMSA metal challenge the week before leaving and something changed in Mark after this challenge. His eye contact is better, his speech is so much better I cannot believe it and his overall awareness is better. I am shocked to see such changes after a one-time metal challenge and I keep on waiting for the regression to happen but it has not as of yet. All of the 'aaaaaahs' are completely out of his speech and his auditory processing is consistently magnificent. So, some of the things that I have seen from our Mexico trip may be from this challenge. We did a DMPS challenge once and I did not see such amazing results from it. I am somewhat flabergasted and cannot quite believe how much this seems to have improved his well-being. So, in the end, I heartily endorse vacation time! Food can be tricky but is certainly doable. Our kids need to be running and playing as much as possible and though Mexico food can be sketchy, most of the good resorts are quite wonderful in the food department. The food at Club Marival really was quite good. Janice [sPAM] Re: [ ] Bye for a week Hey Janice, when you get back, send us a little report on travelling in Mexico with your kids!
