Guest guest
We packed all of our supplements in a Sam's insulated bag with some dry ice and placed a note saying that these were required supplements due to our children's Celiac Disease. We then packed this insulated bag in a suitcase. Some of our supplements, we had with us in our carry on bag and there was no problem whatsoever. You can use a corn cob holder to prick the gel caps and just pack it. There should be no problem as long as it is packed with your checked luggage. qboomom <qboomom@...> wrote: any experience on taking all the pills and suplements we are all using through security and customs at the airport?? this is for a two week stay and we need qty's. Also, considering unexpected layovers and 6 hour tarmac waits (hopefully not) how do we take all the things we need on board and thru the airport? we are using liquid phosphaline and liquid NN as well as liquid V-100 from Buried treasure and a few other things as well as the E's also, what do we take to " poke " the gel caps with? thanks this is a very overwhelming prospect!! Guest guest
I've taken things through customs with no problem, but it typically depends on the airport. I've come prepared with literature about the supplements and keeping the supplements in the containers. I've also put them in the check in luggage, but you run the risk of losing them that way. I also had my chiropractor write a little note for me in the past. You could also give some to a relative or neighbor to fed ex them in case something happens (i.e. gets lost or taken away). This is certainly an additional step that may never need to be used, but my feelings are that they're as necessary as food and water, and I'll be as paranoid as I feel necessary. Hope this helps @...: qboomom@...: Fri, 14 Dec 2007 16:26:56 +0000Subject: [ ] Traveling through security with supplements??? any experience on taking all the pills and suplements we are all using through security and customs at the airport??this is for a two week stay and we need qty's. If you intend to take any of the supplements into the cabin, you will need a medical necessity note to avoid a hassle with the security check people...ditto with any special foods, especially if you child is over 2 years old. To open the gelcaps, you will have use one of their plastic knives and saw an end off...or skip that supplement dose for the flight anyway. My autistic son would only drink from one cup and only rice milk - they had a cow at security check when I had the courage to send the closed-lid cup filled with rice milk through the xray machine - but in the end they got over it and let it pass...we we returning to Europe for a transAtlantic flight...I had certificates but they had not been translated into English which I thought would not be a big problem seeing we were at an international airport with translators galore. It would be better to take only the minimum to get you through the flights, potential delays and put the rest in checked luggage (which always makes me nervous because of potential lost bags). ____________________________________________________________ FREE 3D EARTH SCREENSAVER - Watch the Earth right on your desktop! Guest guest
We packed our enzymes in carryon and had no issues whatsoever. The rest of the supplements I left in our suitcase and checked it with the baggage. Mark takes enzymes with ALL food so we had to have some with us or let the kid starve for the trip.... not so fun. In the end, I find that there is no way that Mark can eat the airplane food as pretty much all of it is loaded with milk products. I generally try to find something past security that is relatively healthy (sometimes impossible) that I can take on to the plane with us.
