As for the drug itself, ask the pharmacist as they are a wealth of

info. Do you know if your child has a trapped metal issue?

Hematachrosis, (sp) et? Also, antibiotics are generally gut tearing.

Lastly, with the ear infections, see Doris Rapps Is this your child?

She says something about ear stuff being a big indicator in milk

allergy.

I know on Stan Kurtz website, I heard tonnes of kids doing terribly after

anitbiotic treatments. Causes huge yeast overgrowths. They suggest taking

probiotics to balance the gut flora that the antibiotic wiped out. His group

mb12 valtrex and his website stankurtz.com has information on it. He

recovered his son from autism but address kids with all sorts of issues.

There is some good information on water and chlorine too.

Good luck.

He will get better, you just need to undo the damage.

Stan is great and he did not chelate so those afraid of that should

check him out.

The probiotic thing is recommended a week or two after the course of

antibiotics I think.

, do you know where the chlorine stuff is. I could not find it

on his site recently. I think they took it off and I really need that

article for a friend. Thanks by the way, we had regression at the

pool and never put it together until I read one of your posts.

Are you giving him anything to fight off the yeast issues that he is probably

developing? A probiotic of any kind? .....Candex? Grapefruit Seed Extract?

(dfferent from grape seed extract)

Antibiotics are really hard on our children but what they cause is yeast

overgrowth that makes them quite nasty. Just think of you on anti-biotics....

after a few days, you are running to the store for Monostat! It is the same for

our children but a thousand times worse since the yeast will thrive in the weak

immune systems of our kids.

The Yeast Beast does attack and our children really suffer.... it is a battle

we fight all of the time in my house now that Mark is taking DMSA to 'get the

lead out'.

[sPAM][ ] Antibiotics effects -- Cefdinir

Can anyone speak to the effect that antibiotics could have on our

apraxic children? My son has had a severe double ear infection and

because he couldn't fight it off on his own, was put on Cefdinir for 10

days. It warned against taking iron or other metal products within 2

hours of taking medicine. Since he has been taking this he has hit a

big wall. His speech, behavior, and auditory issues seem to

intensify. Can anyone speak to this issue? Is there any link maybe

related to a toxin overload in his system? If so, what metal is in it?

Thanks!

My son recently (just took last dose of cefdinir last Sat night) for

a sinus infection. We actually had his sinus cavity cultured this

time so we could see if we could isolate the bug and treat it

appropriately as opposed to just using zithromax again (7 times this

year alone). The ped swore we wouldn't isolate anything, but we did

and there were only 2 antibiotics indicated for that bug - cefdinir

and augmentin. The pharmacist told us that the iron and antacid

warning was because the medication would bind to it and not be as

effective.

My son is on nystatin and a probiotic, so that is likely why we saw

no ill effects while taking the cefdinir. In fact, we are seeing

gains like we've never seen before. The cefdinir did not seem to

cause a set-back with the tremendous progress we have seen while on

nystatin.

If I were you, I'd be telling your ped about our experiences here

with yeast infections, tell him/her that you know that antibiotics -

even one round - can cause a yeast overgrowth and you'd like to

explore the fact this could be happening to your son. Especially if

you are not doing any yeast intervention right now.

If you succeed in this path get the best intel you can on the right

probiotic and when and how to use it and consider getting the

Nyastatin compounded.

Janice,

I'm so novice with this stuff. Can these probiotic be found at most

health/vitamin stores? Thanks! Also, are you saying that giving

antibiotics shouldn't be an option for our apraxic/dyspraxic

children?

Thanks for your reply, sounds like I am experiencing much the same

thing. Bridger has been fighting off ear infections with antibiotics

this is the 5th go around. Zithromax, augmentin and now cefdinir. I

guess I need to explore this nystatin and possible probiotics. Can

you tell me in the least how does yeast infections manifest

themselves in our children? And yes, I'm going right to my unknowing

pediatriation with this info. Thanks!

I'm having a 'ah ha' moment. All this is starting to make serious

sense. My kids have been battling chronic ear infections and have

been on non-stop antibiotics, I now see the whole picture. I just

called my doctor to have him prescribe nyastatin (can this be bought

over the counter?) and am heading out to find a good probiotic? Any

sugggestions? THANKS

Don't quote me here but.... I believe that the antibiotics kill everything in

the system and then the yeast fights back and multiplies to the excess resulting

in an overgrowth..... not a scientific explanation to be sure.

Another thing....

I also read that we can inhale substances such as mold that have yeast

properties or 'funguses' which manifest themeselves in the system like yeast.

My doctor gave me an article on this to read but it was incredibly scientific

and I may have gotten a little lost in the jargon...... but I believe that is

what they indicate. The fungus from the mold gets inhaled into the system and

begins to impant itself in the body.... another form of infection similiar to

candida.... This is why we should all test for mold as it could be a

contributing factor in our children; we need to get rid of as many

environmental insults as we possibly can locate in our immediate surroundings.

Sounds like this could be viral vs. bacterial which could explain why

they've been on " non-stop antibiotics " with apparently no results.

Has your doc done a finger stick to test the blood to see if there

really is something bacterial going on vs. viral?

Just a thought.

Good thought, no the ped is showing me his ignorance...I go again on

Friday and have lots to address (yeast) and will confront him with

this thought process as well. Thanks for the thought.

Mark likes Threelac because it is 'tasty'. I am not sure if you can just go out

and buy it locally but there are many products available locally.

Products that I have personally used and like to give the yeast beast a bash on

the head include Candex (yeast medicine) and we have used the following

probiotics with good success: VSL #3, Primal Defense (by Garden of LIfe....

they also make a pretty good digestive enzyme as well) and of course, ThreeLac.

Good luck. To get started on it immediately, head out to a high-end vitamin

store and pump the manager for knowledge. They are usually pretty good.
