Guest guest
Sindy, I think these are questions for your surgeon, not for a board made up of patients. Please, please ask the ones who know! Cammie > Dear all > > I'm 3.5 weeks post-op now. I had upper/lower/chin surgery. Right after surgery, my OS just put a splint hanging on my upper teeth. Then 10days later at my 1st visit to him, he asked me to put two rubber bands at the front teeth to fix the jaws. And I could take them out for drinks and cleaning. > But in these few days, I started to notice that the splint is getting much thinner, and my lower jaw sometimes would suddenly " swing " once from left to right and then backward. By the way, I had severe teeth grinding before the surgery. So I really don't know that maybe it's not enough strength for only two rubber bands at the front to hold my jaws, then my teeth were grinding the splint to make it thinner?? Did anyone experience this? > > My fiance called my OS, and he asked me to put one more rubber bands. He then said for some other details, he got to check on me at the coming appointment on Wednesday. However, I couldn't find any other surgical hooks at the back to hold more rubber bands. And I don't feel comfortable to add one more rubber band at the front where I already have. Since the wire of the braces were cut off at my upper teeth during surgery, it means that the wire just goes through the braces of four upper front teeth where I put the rubber bands there. I'm just scared it may just add too much loadings at my four front teeth that they will be pulled downward?? > > Besides, one critical concern, my OS said he will remove the splint on the coming Wednesday when I visit him. But I'm very worried if my teeth will grind one another as before if the splint is taken out. Does anybody find this is a problem? > > Thank you very much. > > Best regards > Sindy >

Guest guest
Cammie with that sort of reply then no one should ask questions of any sort. If you havn't noticed this board is filled with questions. It appears sometimes people want imformation, sometimes people want expiernce or a " hey this is what my doctor said ask this " etc. While people should ask questions to their suregons I have noticed you on here a lot asking and replying to questions and your reply to this one was very short and rather inappropriate. > > Dear all > > > > I'm 3.5 weeks post-op now. Guest guest
Liz, Sindy is asking very specific questions about her case, unless you can help her in answering her questions, I think you shouldn't be judging Cammie who is the only one on this board who at least sent a reply back up until now and I believe she is right to state her opinion that these are questions her doctor should answer. And if you think that Cammie's reply is short and unappropriate, then your reply is even more unappropriate, because you did not give your opinion or advice for Sindy, and I believe that Sindy is asking for that, not for someone critizing another one's reply... stepping of my soap box now... Guest guest
Thanks, Nathalie, for your support. But this isn't about me, or Liz, or anything but what's going on with Sindy. I'm just eager for her to get help with whatever's going on, as I know you are, too, and so is Liz. We all take our best shot at making this a better site, and that's what makes it a good and supportive community. And yep. I think she (Sindy) definitely needs to reach her docs about her perceived troubles, and let them tell her what to do! Guest guest
Well, I agree with Cammie on this one, and it's because, to me anyway, Sindy's description of her predicament says to me that she needs to talk with her surgeon. As we all know, sometimes people get no answers to their questions here, sometimes they get many answers. Cammie's was one suggestion, and I didn't find it inappropriate. Others are free to add their own suggestions/experiences. Privately, I have received e-mails that commend her on her advice to members to contact their surgeon. > > > Dear all > > > > > > I'm 3.5 weeks post-op now. I had upper/lower/chin surgery.
