Janice,

thanks for responding. Sorry I guess I didn't explain things very

well. has many issues. has Dyspraxia, receptive &

expressive language delay, central auditory processing disorder and

visual processing disorder, and a severe reading disability. He was

diagnosed at one time as PDDNOS, not sure if that still applies.

We paid for the moodbell to try and get his reading going

faster. LIPS work on Auditory discrimination. It has helped

with articulation issues too. He has improved his reading

ability by 1 year in 9 months. Visualizing and Verbalizing helped

improve his receptive and expressive language abilities, and his

listening comprehension. We are also trying to get the school

district to pay for the moodbell tutoring as well.

When I called around town looking for auditory processing programs I

was told about the Fast Forward by one provider and Interactive

Metronome by another therapist.

We tried earobics for about 1 1/2 years and got frustrated

with it and so he wouldn't do it anymore. We didn't have any

professional overlooking his progress. 's tutor let him

observed a session of another child doing Fast ForWord. She isn't a

provider, but she charges $45 dollars an hour to do the monitoring

of the program and works very hard for her doing the

lindamoodbell.

Tomatis and Bernard didn't have any providers in my neighborhood.

They were too far to drive comfortably. I have never heard of LIFT

listening program. did a listening program about 4 years

ago, but I think that was for sensory integration dysfunction and

not Auditory processing disorder. I can't get ahold of the

therapist to find out.

I know what you mean about stubborn teenagers. Mine started the

stubborn phase when they were younger. All three of my teenagers

challenge my authority when it comes to doing things when they don't

want to. That is why I am paying for the tutor too. She is a

professional Resource Specialist/ Program manager and can talk him

into doing work. I can't even get him to read. We listened to the

Harry Potter CD's. He isn't fluent enough to understand Harry

Potter if he read it. He really enjoyed listening to the story.

Thanks,

Lorraine

> I didn't know that I.M is an auditory processing program. I

looked at it 'once upon a time' and I think it has to do with

balance and coordination via rythem and timing. I thought it an

interesting program for development but... auditory processing? Not

so sure about that. My interest was definately piqued by the

program until I took Mark to the provider who told me that Mark

needed more work than IM could provide for him. (Rejected by the

therapist... fabulous!)

> With regard to the Fast Forward program, I have heard some good

outcomes associated with it but have never tried it. I hear it is

very good but that it has extensive time requirements ie. something

like 75 minutes per day (Yikes!) You should check this and ensure

that is willing to participate in whatever it entails. You

must be able to get him to comply which could be tough. (I have a

14 year old girl and getting her to make her bed and get up before

noon is tough!)

> Have you also checked out Tomatis, Berrard or LIFT listening

programs? They are very high quality. LIFT has a speak back

component to it as well.

> Since the system is paying for it, I won't suggest the cheaper

options out there such as Earobics, various Listening Programs,

Simply Smarter, etc. If the 'expensive' option fails, you can

always try the cheaper routes!
