Hi Dean, I am not familiar with a Pancreatic Center in Chicago although I am sure there is one (anyone on the board know about one in Chicago?)Anyway, if there is no one in Chicago or closer I would recommend Indiana University (Indianapolis), people travel from all over the country because their Pancreatic Center is so good. Dr.Stuart Sherman is the doctor I saw and he was wonderful. Dr Lehman is another doc that many on this board have seen. Here is the info: Dr. Stuart Sherman Specialty:Gastroenterology/Hepatology Sub-specialty:Internal Medicine Special Clinical Interests:sphincter of Oddi dysfunction pancreatitis,ERCP,pancreatic and biliary tract disease Phone: Affiliation:IU Medical Group Office Location(s): University Hospital #2300 550 N University Blvdn #4100 Indianapolis, IN. 46202 University Hosp-MDC #2180 550 N University Blvd Indianapolis, IN. 46202 Good Luck, and I am sorry your wife is so sick. It will really help to see a doctor that deals with Pancreatitis all the time. Take Care, Debbie/CA
Guest guest
A Dr Bell was previously at my hospital in Seattle and I have just discovered another pancreatitis family sees him at Northwestern Hopital which I believe is in Chicago. His specialty is the pancreas and he is the CHief of General Surgery at NW as he was here at the VA. Here is the hospital's website information on Dr Bell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > I just looked - his name is H. Bell, but it says that he went to medical school at Northwestern, and did his residency in Denver. He is > the head of Gastrointestinal Surgery. This is a link to the site. > > http://www.nmff.org/findphysician/physician.asp?id=A47370 > Eileen and here is some more she has to say: > Dear Members; > > I received the following request and would appreciate any > recommendations/information to share with Mr. Basser. > > Thank you, > Gail > > > WE ARE JUST WEST OF CHICAGO IN LYONS,IL.FRANKLY IM GETTING FRUSTRATED > WITH MY DR.AND OUR HOSPITAL.MY WIFE HAS A COUPLE INFECTIONS > URINARY,ESOPHUGAS BACTERIA AND WE ARE GIVING IV ANTIBIOTICS AT HOME. > > DO YOU KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY DR'S IN MY AREA WHO SPECIALIZE IN > TREATMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM IN OUR AREA? Guest guest
I clicked on send too soon..,..here's is more Eileen had to say about Dr Bell.... Doctor Bell just called us - himself - on a Saturday! He wants to coordinate what he is doing with M's treatment. He said that the angiogram is a stopgap - he will eventually need the spleen removed and the surgery on the pseudocysts. At least with everything that is going on, he shouldn't have any problems qualifying for disability..... Eileen In another message she said " he is SO nice, " emphasis hers.... Guest guest
To Dean - I don't know anyone in your area. However, call Dr. Kozarek at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle () and ask him to refer you. My GI doc sent me to Kozarek because he's nationally and internationally known and he's great! Very caring and if you do much reading on the subject you'll see he's published alot. His total focus really is the pancreas and I've been told he can go where very few other doctors can. So - I would trust anyone Kozarek sent me to. I hope your wife starts feeling better soon - she has certainly been through alot and so have you!! I know it must be hard to stand by and feel helpless. She's really lucky to have someone as supportive as you are. All my best wishes to both of you - Anita HELP-Requesting Dr. recommendation-Chicago/Lyons IL area Dear Members; I received the following request and would appreciate any recommendations/information to share with Mr. Basser.
