Guest guest
Hello, As a result of my pancreatectomy I have become a diabetic. We of course hope this is is temporary, and all in all my transplanted islet cells are working well. My current insulin/blood check regimine is this: I take NPH 11 units twice a day always I take Regular insulin according to a sliding scale. 100-149 = 3units, 150-199 = 6 units, etc I check my blood 4 times a day (7AM, noon, 5PM, and 10PM) My ranges are getting more and more narrow. I currently range from 100-135. With my levels as they are, how does this classify me in terms of severity? Is this mild diabetes? Since I have one to two readings daily that are 120 or greater should my doctor consider increasing the number of units of NPH I get? Should my sliding scale doses give me more regular? Should there be more effort made to adjust my insulin to keep me totally within the normal range? I am new to all this so any advice or ideas are welcome! Tips, tricks too! I feel like a pro with the syringe, drawing up shots, mixing insulins, and checking blood. But I don't have much a groove yet for exactly where I am in terms of diabetes. Thanks for you help!
