Guest guest
My son is on a GFCF diet and his eyes have been getting red underneath. could he be getting something that he has a problem with or could he be lacking something in his diet? I am at a loss and I have tried process of elimination and can not place my finger on it? Could this be a sign of diabetes? What am I to do? He does not seem tired and sleeps well at night, but this is so troubling? Please advise me on what this could be or what I should try and do. Guest guest
Jule- I will be interested in reading the responses to this. sometimes has circles under her eyes that our Developmental Pediatrician calls " allergic shiners. " She, however, did not seem overly concerned about it, but I also think that this *could* be the sign of hidden allergies. I think about this from time to time, but is doing so well that I don't know if it is something that I should pursue (from a DAN! perspective, for example). Guest guest
Do you mean on the lower eyelid? (not the actual eye, right?) My daughter gets these when she is exposed to dust (she is allergic to dust). Perhaps your son is allergic to something in his environment? Guest guest
Are the circles puffy? Is he congested? Eye circles could indicate a food sensitivity - I don't know how long it's been since you did a food panel, but I would consider repeating it. Eye circles can also mean mineral deficiency; does he take any mineral supplements? We give Thorne pic-mins (available through IllnessIsOptional.com), plus calcium and magnesium (Tropical Oasis cal/mag liquid, which I think is also available at IllnessIsOptional.com, and at Whole Foods). Have you tried pulling soy out of his diet for a couple of weeks to see if that is the problem? good luck > > My son is on a GFCF diet and his eyes have been getting red underneath. > could he be getting something that he has a problem with or could he be > lacking something in his diet? Guest guest
Just a a comment here..my now 28 year old son started getting the allergic shiners around 5 or 6 years old and by 8 years old we knew there was something really wrong besides asthma and animal allergies. It turned out to be an allergy to wheat!!! It was destroying his outlook on life and causing him to be depressed along with headaches and vomiting from phlem .after coming off the wheat for just a few months we saw a new son..much more mischievous and enjoying life so wheat allergies can do some weird stuff to little people..even now I can tell when he has over done the wheat thing like to much lasagna or pizza. He gets real cross and irritable..I wonder if the new vaccines scientists are working on to shut down the body overdefensiveness will work in instances like these.
