Dear ,

While it's wonderful that the nurse was able to give you this

information over the phone, naturally the message that the head

of the pancreas is bulky in appearance is something you didn't

want to hear. What that would mean, to me, is that either it's

inflamed or there are obstructions there that are causing it to

swell up. This could be caused by different things, and could be

the explanation for any pain you've been having. It might be that

there's a pseudocyst there, or something else causing

obstruction.

The ultrasound should show what this is more clearly. It's best

to get it done and find out what it is, and how to deal with it. I can

understand that this causes you much nervousness, I've been

there, too. Yet I think it's better to know exactly what's wrong and

then work on the best way to solve it.

Remember, we're here to support you, and to help you deal with

the unknowns. Please let us know what the results of your

ultrasound are whenever you can. Try not to worry......I know

that's easier said than done!
