Poncho,

Could you clarify why you had the Whipple? I thought that was to repair the

Chronic Pancreatitis, but it sounds like you didn't develop CP until 1999?

Hi Karyn,

My modified Whipple was to remove a cancerous tumor in my small intestine

that was at the main bile duct. Within this operation a lot of replumbing of my

" innerds " was done and I think that included creating openings from my pancreas

into the small intestine. My pancreas does not drain into the main bile duct

as normal but my liver does as is normal. Again the operation was done in 1986

and I didn't develop CP until 1999, thirteen years later. Is there a

cause-effect connection. No one knows for sure and it really doesn't make a

difference

as you just get whatever you get in life and then you must just deal with it.

My surgery in 1986 corrected a cancerous and life threating condition, hemo

count was under 8000 and hemanocrit was about 23%, and for that I am ever

thankful.

Hope that clarifies my experience and if there are other questions, please

just ask.

Best Wishes, Poncho - GA
