Guest guest
Kimber, I had put this email aside until I could give it more attention and just retrieved it. Sorry to have put it off so long. The good thing in doing so, however, is that I have received some new information from Sutherland regarding the three types of transplants. 1) Whole pancreas transplant a) Cadaver Donor 2) Partial pancreas transplant a) Cadaver Donor Living Donor 3) Islet cell transplant a) Cadaver Donor Living Donor c) Auto Donor I had no idea that they could do living donor transplants. Dr. Sutherland performed the first living donor pancreas transplant in the world. I don't even know where to start in sharing the information. There is so much. The following website discuss the living donor transplantation program. *http://www.fairviewtransplant.org/pancreas.asp *http://www.fairviewtransplant.org/livingdonor.asp *http://www.liveorgandonation.com/what_is_a_living_donor_transplan.htm Let me know if you have a specific question. I am currently filling out the packet for a living donor partial organ transplant from my father. Karyn E. , RN Exec.
