Anita,

In the beginning I was taking Hydrocodone. Then I was

prescribed Percocet or Dilaudid. I tried both but preferred the

Percocet for more regular use. These are all only short acting

pain medications, though. Once the pain became more

continuous, I started wearing the duragesic patch, with Percocet

for breakthrough pain.

I've been very pleased with the patch and have been using it

continuously for seven months now. Fortunately, I have not any

any reaction from the adhesive like many do. Some people are

not able to use the patches because they cause too much

itching and irritation. A friend suggested that it always be applied

to a skin area that has previously been exposed to outside air

and sun, skin that had been " weathered " , so to speak. So I can

wear it wherever I have, at some time, had a tan. You might ask

your doctor how he feels about this.
