Guest guest
Keir Hi and Welcome I'm so sorry you suffer from this horrible disease but glad you found us. Please free to reply to any post and post any questions of your own. If you feel better just kinda hanging around and monitoring that's ok too. The Top5Plus5 Library has some great information and links as well as a sections with our stories. The weekends are slow around here since the wweather turned nice but I'm sure you will get plenty of welcomes. You did not mention why you have pancreatitis. Your onset is the same time as my 13 yr old daughter had her 1st attack. She has idiopathic chronic recurrent pancretitis. Her attacks requireing hospitalizations seem to happen in the fall, yet she has many attacks with pain, no enzyme elevations and no vomiting. Where are you from? I am the Maine State Rep. Guest guest
My amylase and lipase are never elevated anymore. I don't have enough pancreas left to create them. Guest guest
Keri, I also have had decreased enzymes overtime with my pancreatitic attacks. Of my last two attacks, the first of the two had normal enzymes and the last one had below normal enzymes. You might want to have your doctor do what I had mine do. Since I've had so many attacks (over 20) I pretty much know what all the physician orders for admitting me should be. So, I wrote up a document with all the physician orders, then I went over it with my doctor. She added somethings, said the rest was perfectly acceptable, then signed it, including her license # so that other doctors reading it would know it's official. She made two copies of it, put one in my medical record, kept the other to keep with her and then gave me the original. Now, if I got to the emergency room for uncontrolled pain or a full blown attack, I'm to show this to the doctor. I haven't exactly tested it yet, but I've heard from other people who've done something similar that it helps. That's, of course, assuming you don't get a doctor whose and idiot and refuses to believe anything but the amylase and lipase tests. I know have daily pain, nausea, etc.too. I wanted to welcome you to our group and know that you are not alone. If you want to read my stories, go to http://pancassociation.org/anthology.htm#kimber if you want to read my story. I look forward to hearing more from you. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
