Guest guest
Hi, Sally! Don't know if it'll help ... When my husband was home on a nasal feeding tube into the jejunum, I assembled the backpack and there was enough slack in the line for me to carry the pack as long as he walked along side of me! We took walks up and down our 1/2 mile driveway to get him healing. Eventually, when he had more strength, he carried the pack on his back - got more of a workout. Thank goodness for the backpack ... really helped when we ended up in the emergency room one night and when we had to go out for doctor's appointments ... or just going to the store to get him out. When the feeding formula gets lower and makes the bag lighter, that'll be the time to begin the walks for your brother-in-law! Good luck! Guest guest
When I had hoe for home IV therapy they sent a back back and I never used it. It sounds like a plan IV pole is what is needed util he gets his strength back it can be pushed around it is exactly what they use in hospitals, one can be purchasedy at any place that sells durable home medical just make sure it has more than 3 legs otherwise it will want to tip over when being pushed or gets top heavy(bwith large amounts of fluid or feedings) if he should be graduated to tube feedings then it would be available it he needed it. Guest guest
--- Well on the back pack i always used mine at night while i was sleeping, DR Triano and I got my Intake times down to 9 hours i was going in to work the 2nd day home from the hospital. That backpack with the TPN loaded and the punp has be 20Lbs or a little more and if anyone else was like me (255lbs down to 138 in 49 days) you are a little weak. The steints depending on placement can come out. I have 2 in my main pancreatic duct due to a W shaped spot in that duct.I Did have another placed in the outlet during the sphincterotomy of the minor duct during my 2nd ERCP that one was designed to fall out and be passed. So depending on placement and technique used they may stay or be passed.
Guest guest
Not all home care agencies offer poles (IV) which I think is crazy, but my home care agency does give you get the backpack only if want a pole you must obtain it yourself. My husband bought me one for about $40.00. It was well worth it, other wise I was carrying the fluid around on a hanger and hanging that on curtain rods, nails anything I could find the shower curtain rod when in the bathroom, necessity is the mother of invention.
