Questions regarding school issues

Good morning all,

I have a couple questions to the parents of a cfer, actually to everyone!

Christian was promoted to the 6th grade and while I am happy for him I don't

feel

that he is ready.  Since he wasn't diagnosed until 2 years ago and since I

have been educated by persons on this list regarding 504 plans and all I feel he

is slipping through the cracks and don't know what to do. I think they only

promoted him to get him out of their school. I also have to admit that I am

kinda scared for him to move on to the big middle school because I remember how

bad it was when my daughter went there. On the other hand, I don't want him to

be left behind his friends. He has found a good group of kids that finally

don't bully him. Should I contact the school, the school board, or should I just

allow him to go forward? This past year was really a nightmare for us, almost

weekly teachers were writing notes home telling us that he wasn't going to

pass and then even when he kinda gave up and didn't do all his work they go

ahead

and pass him. I just don't know what to do. My husband and I were thinking

that we would get him into some major tutoring during the summer vacation and

hope for the best but I don't know if that is the right thing to do or not. I

don't want him to get swept under the rug but I don't want him to struggle

either. Health wise he is doing very well, in fact he is up to about 84 pounds

now

and I really believe that the extra stuff during school (shakes and

treatments) has been a benefit to him but that is also why I think the teachers

just

want him gone. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

sorry for the rambling.
