Guest guest
Hello Bert! I'm so glad to hear you are still doing well. You may remember me saying a few weeks ago that I was considering the pancreatectomy? I'm still considering! I'm seeing my pancreatic specialist/surgeon this Wednesday and my gastroenterologist in a couple of weeks. They have a good record of success with pancreatectomies in the hospital I would be going to (Royal Liverpool Hospital) but the ICT isn't done. You have to accept that you will definitely be diabetic if you have the operation. I know two patients who had the op at this hospital. Neither of them has any trouble with their diabetes. They seem to have a routine rather like yours, from what I remember you saying. I'm going to ask the specialist some more questions about the diabetes when I see him. Naturally, I'd like to lose my cancer risk (which I've been told is very high in my case) and feel I had at least the hope of getting rid of painful episodes (I know this doesn't always happen) but I want to know what I might be facing from the diabetes. How is your pain now? I think you said it was not pancreatic as such but surgery-related? I hope it's fading all the time Bert. I was impressed by your post to-day; you are always so positive. I have drawn strength from so much of what you've said and I feel I know more what to expect if I have this operation. Thank you and carry on getting stronger and stronger and enjoy your new life! I know it takes a long time to recover from this operation. It's wonderful that you keep on posting to help other people with your experiences of pancreatitis even though you've had your surgery and don't possess a pancreas any more!
