You wrote, " I have found myself ready to pass out in the grocery store from

the pain. "

Your comment about almost passing out in the grocery store reminded me to

share that on more than one occasion I have taken advantage of the motorized

shopping carts available for the handicapped patrons of grocery stores and other

stores, such as Walmart, Target, etc. I was so embarrassed the first time I had

to use it, but there was no way I could have done my grocery shopping,

otherwise.

I have also read a few posts talking about the use of other handicapped

services i.e.; handicap parking tags. I applied for and received a handicap

parking

tag shortly after I was diagnosed and following my Distal Pancreatectomy. It

isn't so much of an application, as it is a form to be completed by the

physician. The tag I hang from my mirror is good for five years. It certainly

was a

lesson in humility. I am ashamed to admit that I have uttered under my breath

comments about people using them that looked fine to me. Today, I certainly

understand invisible illnesses.
