Guest guest
Hi, My mom was diagnosed with acute pancreatits on July 27th and has been in the hospital since. She has been in ICU, but was just transferred to a sub-acute care center. She is in her early 60s, has diabetes, but has no other major health issues. She has lost roughly 80% of her pancreas as a result of the disease, but hasn't required any surgery to remove the dead tissue. She has been on a ventilator from the first week of her hospitalization, and has recently been increasing her c-pap trial times. We are confident that she'll come off the ventilator, but we're wondering when. The docs have advised us to be patient, and we understand that it can take months, but we'e love to hear from others who may have experienced, or heard about, a similar situation.
