Guest guest
Suzanne, Thank you for sharing with me. I also have many of the complications that go along with CP. I have had antibiotic resistant MRSA more times than I can count. For a brief time they questioned me about contaminating the line myself. They didn't see how I could be getting so many infections. This was while I was pregnant, and in the nursing home. Like I would endanger the life of my unborn child to extend my stay in the nursing home?? Let me tell you, that place was no Club Med! I have had to have three blood transfusions. I had pneumonia from being in the hospital immobile for so long. And where do I begin with the line problems? No more IV's in my arms, there aren't any good veins left, and my feet are close to catching up. I have had IV's in my elbows, lower legs and even in my breasts (there really are some good veins there, thanks to breastfeeding LOL). My arm veins are so scarred that they can't feed in PICC lines anymore. The scar tissue in my chest made it impossible for them to put in a central line last time, so they put in a femoral line (in the groin). With that I was not allowed to sit up even to go to the bathroom because of the risk of bleeding. HELLO BEDPAN!! My point and yes I am getting to it, is any of these things an exclusion criteria for surgery? Was there anything special you had to do to prepare Joey for his surgery? Also, did they do a decent job controlling his pain from the surgery? Thank you for your time to answer, both previously and in the future. As you know, every bit of information makes it a little easier to deal with. Love,Keri
