Guest guest
Dana, Last summer my son, Cliff, 17 w/cf, was on Leviquin for the first time.... the day after he was released he developed severe his ankles and feet. Large red splotches arose. We initially thought it was a delayed reaction to the Leviquin, and so did the doctors at first. After a few days, the pain subsided and the red splotches turned kind of yellow... like a bruise would do during healing.... Later that year, he was admitted again and was put on Fortax and Tobramicyn, because of the previous reaction.... After a few days, the same symptoms started again. The doctors finally decided it was a condition called erythema nodosum... Here is a medical dictionary description of it... > Definition > Erythema nodosum is a disorder including formation of characteristic > painful, red skin nodules. > > Causes, incidence, and risk factors > Erythema nodosum is characterized by tender, reddened nodules, usually > on the front of the legs. It is more common in women. > The exact cause of the nodules is unknown. Some cases may be > associated with infections such as streptococcus, coccidioidomycosis, > fungal infections, tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, syphilis, cat-scratch > disease, tularemia, Yersinia infection, leptospirosis, psittacosis, > histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis, and mononucleosis (EBV). The second round wasn't as bad as the first, and it hasn't happened again. I hope this helps you out... You might ask your daughter's doctors if this could be a possibility... Guest guest
Dana, has not been on Leviquin, but I have been told it and Cipro are very closely related, and when was on Cipro a couple of years ago he started experiencing pain in his knees, so we discontinued it. Take care, Deana Mom to 12 no cf and 6 wcf Leviquin Has anyone had reactions to Leviquin such as joint pain. I know that joint pain sometimes goes with CF but about 1 week after Jess started taking leviquin she developed knee pain so bad that she couldn't hardly walk.
