Guest guest
Hello, everyone - This is my first post (in fact, I can't even figure out how to get back to the website!), but I've been reading the Digests that come into my inbox. I have 2 boys with CF - Gavin, 3 1/2 and Jake 10months. They were dx a year ago - Jake through amnio after Gavin was dx. Anyway, I am the chairperson of the Great Strides Walk in Atlanta and remember reading that someone on here uses ribbons for its CF walkers for identifying purposes and to avoid cross contamination. I've been working on getting them for our walk (on May 3rd), because it's such a great idea. My questions to those of you who use them: what do they consist of? How are they perceived by those with CF? Does it seem to honor the patients or set them apart? How are they distributed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Pam mother of Gavin 3 1/2 wcf and Jake 10m wcf
Guest guest
Hi, that was me talking about the ribbons. We were asked at the registration table if we had anyone with CF with us and were handed a small purple ribbon tied to a small pin and they asked us to put it somewhere visible on our daughter's shirt. being such a girly-girl thought it was pretty and wanted another. They told us to avoid cross contamination, just keep her away (3 ft. rule) from the kids and adults with the ribbons. No big deal was made of it. It was just like here gets to wear a ribbon because she has CF. I suppose that some people may not have worn their ribbons, I don't know. I wasn't too worried about it because we keep with people from our group all the time since she is only 4 now and last year and the year before she was in the stroller most of the time anyway. I am a bit more concerned this year about the cross contamination so I hope that they do this again this time. I'll be calling the local foundation branch today to find out if they are. I'll tell them that you all liked the idea...
