Guest guest
Anita, I'm not sure about the secretin part, but I have had an Endoscopic Ultrasound twice at MUSC in South Carolina. The preparation and things from the patient side looks the same as an ERCP. You are usually sedated and the scope goes down your throat, thru the stomach, and into the duodenum and looks at the surface of the pancreas with the help of the ultrasound. This was how they found out that the outer surface of my pancreas has a " coarsened texture " as well as " 5/9 features of chronic pancreatitis " . I recovered from the EUS much quicker than the ERCP. I would have no problem going thru such a test again, as it really was no problem for me at all.
