Guest guest
They ALL raise blood sugar, and use of them may be the one time that a cf patient with CFRD may actually have to do some serious carbohy drate counting and use extra or more long-lasting medication for the diabetes. Sometimes the rise does not show up until the dose is lower simply because the rise may not occur immediately, but builds up over time and finally appears during the tapering down which is often done. I have MS, too, and do use Prednisone, or Dexomethasone about twice a year--and always have to increase my meds for CFRD and do some very serious carbohydrate counting--which is not the norm for CFRD, due to nutritional needs--although I am very well nourished, indeed! The hormones of pregnancy can do a similar thing, and one is, to put it bluntly, sort of " stuck with it " and possibly a large baby and a C-sec tion. Fortunately, it is all manageable, with a lot of will power!!! Love and luck, n Rojas
