Guest guest
We have been back to the hospital today for the results of my partner last CT scan. To be told that he has only 2cm of the pancreas left and that it will take about 2 years for the rest of it to burn out . will this mean that the chances of pancreatic cancer goes down or is he at a greater risk as he has only had CP for 3 years. As we have been told that to lose that much of the pancreas that fast is not that common (is this true as well) Vicky Vicky, I have CP and my pancreas is burned out. I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis following an acute attack in April 2001. I was diagnosed with pancreas burn out on March 12, 2003, about 21 months after first diagnosis. This fast a burn out is very uncommon, but obviously not impossible. Mine was due to the fact that my body went into diabetic ketoacidosis which was untreated for three months. As for your questions about cancer, I can't answer this. It would seem that cancer would be less of a threat, but I have no research to back this up. I was tested for cancer by having a biopsy done at my initial diagnosis, and then again six months ago by having the CA-19-9 cancer tumor marker test done. Both tests were benign. If you have concerns about cancer, your partner partner should ask his physician to be tested. If you have any more questions about this, don't hesitate to ask. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
