Guest guest
Are you using a local pharmacy? If so, consider using a pharmacy that is specificly for people with cystic fibrosis. http://www.cfservicespharmacy.com/ is one and Grandma Bev has one also (I don't have the web address handy, though. Bev, if you read this, please post your pharmacy's contact info for those interested!) If another pharmacy can't get it to go through, try contacting the claims department at GA medicaid. You may have to write a letter to claims review explaining your situation (write it as if you are explaining it to a seven year old child! Include every shred of information that you have, including name, birthdate, billing number, specifics of CFRD and why the item is needed, lack of other prescription coverage, etc.) Medicaid will most likely require a Certificate of Medical Necessity from the doctor (if providing this falls on your shoulders, get it from the doctor then fax them a copy, or make a copy to send them - keep the original!) This is something that a CF pharmacy would probably do for you. Medicaid will pay for these supplements if there is a CMN on file and the claim is submitted correctly. (I use to do medical billing for a company that dealt mostly with enteral feed billing, so I know that medicaid will pay this.) If you persist and are clear when dealing with medicaid representatives, pharmacies, doctors, etc. on the phone, you should be able to get this covered. (I know it's hard to be " clear " after waiting on hold for an hour!) We're in Georgia, and we're just getting everything up and running through her medicaid. The pharmacy is saying that that won't cover her Deliver2.0. The pharmacist said they called the Dr's office and they weren't sure they could do anything? Help. Our problem is we have Kaiser as our primary, so medicaid is her secondary. The Kaiser plan we have is an individual, due to my husband's self employment. There is no drug coverage, hence the need for medicaid. Any tips on help. The feeds are not her only nutrition, but she has CFRDiabetes, that has made her maintaining weight harder. Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Is your daughters doc a CF doc or a primary care doc? If just a reg. doc, try to get your daughter to a CF center, they will write letters as to medical necessity, and help you greatly.
